Our Partner in St. Louis

The Belle Center of St. Louis currently operates an inclusive Center-Based Program, the Families as Partners Program and an Outreach Program, serving the St. Louis Metropolitan area.

Center-Based Program

The Center-Based program is a partnership between the Belle Center of St. Louis and Zelda Epstein Day Care Center.  The inclusive Center has 7 classrooms supporting children ranging in age from 0-6.  A total of 12 spaces are reserved for children with disabilities.  Together with families, teachers and Belle Center staff collaborate on strategies designed to include children with disabilities in daily activities with their peers.  Additionally, Belle Center therapists (including physical, speech-language and occupational therapists) bring therapy supports to the children in their Center-Based classrooms to provide therapies in natural environments with the participation of typically developing children.

Families as Partners Program

The Families as Partners Program is designed to support the family members of children with disabilities.  Parent/Child Developmental Groups offer families the opportunity to learn more about their child’s development while creating opportunities to form supportive relationships with other families.  Sibshops provide a safe place for siblings to discuss the issues directly affecting them as the siblings of children with disabilities.  Parent Education Evenings feature guest speakers on a variety of topics including child development and disability issues.  Finally, Community Events provide recreational activities within the greater St. Louis metropolitan community designed to foster relationships among families and community resources.

The Outreach Program

The goal of the Outreach Program is to support the inclusion of children with disabilities in programs with their typically developing peers through the provision of direct therapeutic and educational services in homes, schools and other community settings.  Specifically, the Outreach Program provides support to children with disabilities through developmental, occupational, physical and speech/language therapy services delivered within the community settings in which these children participate.
